The last ADVENTURE  consortial meeting in Vaasa (Finland) was hosted by the University of Vaasa (or UVA as we like to call them). They prepared a very special meeting place for us at Kalle’s Inn, which is a very beautiful place and the evening event included a traditional smoke sauna, hot tubs and a hole in an ice sea if you wanted to cool down (I didn’t dare but actually everyone who tried it is still alive).

Besides the nice Finnish people, the beautiful winter-wonder-landscape and the (let’s say interesting) mid-week nightlife in Vaasa, the meeting was also very productive now that ADVENTURE has reached the third year, and the technology has to be validated by the use case partners. Questionaries for possible users have been created to find out what would be necessary to put the ADVENTURE platform to use in real world processes. The last IPR issues were discussed and the general progress towards the delivery of the second batch of prototypes were some of the main topics.

Enjoy some of the photos we made.

Review in Brussels http://www.fp7-adventure.eu/2013/10/review-in-brussels/ http://www.fp7-adventure.eu/2013/10/review-in-brussels/#comments Mon, 28 Oct 2013 13:08:52 +0000 http://www.fp7-adventure.eu/?p=1060 Continue Reading]]> On October 14ᵗʰ-15ᵗʰ, 2013, ADVENTURE was presented to the EU reviewers in Brussels for the second time.

For the second years review, the ADVENTURE team focussed on showing as many component-prototypes as possible in an integrated demo, in a fictional but coherent story of a business opportunity at Azevedos Industria. In fact, the team had so many demos that we had to cut some, and we even managed to keep to our time limits. Also noticeably not a single demo failed or had bugs, and we succeeded in showing the interaction between all prototypes that were due to that date.

The reviewers were happy with the progress and the excessive coverage and handling of all the criticism they had the year before, as another main focus was the last years’s criticism which was broadly dealt with. Especially the team received very positive feedback for the fine grained plan for intellectual property rights. Overall, the reviewers offered very positive feedback and suggestions.

All deliverables, presentations and prototypes are being submitted to the reviewers in the following days, and we’re awaiting the formal feedback in written form. Also, you’ll find all public deliverables popping up on our website under http://www.fp7-adventure.eu/resources/ soon.

Thanks for everyone who participated. Let’s get to work for the third stage! :-)

ADVENTURE Month 24 and 2013 Review approaching http://www.fp7-adventure.eu/2013/08/adventure-month-24-and-2013-review-approaching/ http://www.fp7-adventure.eu/2013/08/adventure-month-24-and-2013-review-approaching/#comments Fri, 30 Aug 2013 16:04:12 +0000 http://www.fp7-adventure.eu/?p=1038 Continue Reading]]> The ADVENTURE time schedule quickly approaches the end of month 24, when many prototypes are finished, which means all partners are working hard to get the best possible solutions online. The month 24 prototypes are going to be shown on the next review meeting in Brussels, where individual presentations and a combined prototype presentation is planned.

There have been updates to a lot of earlier documents to reflect the changes deemed necessary in the implementation phase:

  • D2.1 Project Vision Consensus Document
  • D2.3 Requirement Analysis Report
  • D3.1 Global Architecture Definition
  • D3.2 Functional Specification
  • D3.3 Technical Specification

Also, a big number of other deliverables are finished or in the works, under these are:

  • D3.4 The Conceptual Manufacturing Reference Model
  • D4.1.2 ADVENTURE Cloud Based Data Storage Prototype 2
  • D8.1.1 IPR Document
  • D8.3.2 Scientific Dissemination Report 2
  • D8.3.4 ADVENTURE Workshop Report 1
  • D8.5.3 Report on Cluster Activitites
  • and some more (Gateway Developers Guide, State of the Art Wiki Update and some more Prototype deliverables, and this list is just comprised of what I saw personally in the last month)

Also a new project Flyer has been designed, hackers tried to infiltrate the ADVENTURE servers, and a lot of work has been done in terms of meetings, decisions and conceptual work to make the planned Dashboard more modern and enjoyable. And this is also just a small excerpt of what happens. Busy schedules.

The external advisory board managed to teach the consortium about real world industry cases where ADVENTURE might be applicable, as well as informing about copyright and patent laws and advising on intellectual property issues that could arise and on how to prevent those.

The board also decided on the extension of the Azevedos use case to substitute the loss of ABB from the consortium, in order to make the use case more relevant for bigger use cases where the whole supply chain has to be covered.

Also, an internal competition was held where eleven projects by six consortium members were presented. After a quick voting, it was decided that the “ADVENTURE Mobile Status App” by Ascora and “Graphical Approach for Gateway Implementation” by TIE were the winners, which will be implemented in the further course of the project.
